Imagine first day in the ward, even before the bleep is given to me, I am already required to attend to a hypotensive patient whom i barely know... prescribing medications with the doses that i was not taught before in medical schools... ordering investigations which i did not even know the rationale behind it... presenting cases of some patients whom i have not even met before... critically appraising paper and presenting them in journal club i did not even know the purpose of...
My day usually starts at 8am with updating the list and doing rounds with consultants and registrars... this usually end at about 12 noon... occasionally when we get 10 minutes after the round... it would be a fifteen minutes coffee time with the team... followed by straightforward jobs like handing in request forms before going for teachings and lunch which happen almost everyday at 1pm... MOre jobs after that and then home at about 7pm... (Boring right... just like robots)
Attended the first crash call which i was the first dr to the scene is nerve wrecking and hit me so unexpectedly... inserting CVP line after watching one prove that 'see one, do one, teach one' really do exist for a reason... attending more than 3 mess parties in a month is some luxury that not many Dr in the world can hope for... Been down to London two times in one month with no obvious purpose...
Dorchester is a small town south west of england... when i say small... it's really small... tiny town with just 10,000 populations... the town is small with just one high street and one main road... i think the biggest building they have would be Dorset County Hospital where i am working at the moment...
Other than that... life is alright.... and below are some pictures of the places that is near to Dorchester... (Interested to come?? Let me know )
